Whether mechanical or electronic, the aim of the kitchen scale is to indicate a weight by analysing a deformation.

1. A scale has at least one pressure sensor located under the platform
2. This sensor, fixed on the platform, is deformed under the action of a weight
3. If there is a deformation, the sensor modifies its electronic signal
4. This signal is amplified and converted into a weight which is displayed on the LCD
